Be the Professional Scientist
Be the Professional Scientist with Skills Win! in February.
Join Skills Win! and learn about the skills required to become a professional scientist. Coaches from Syracuse University will work with kids to learn about important skill sets for career and success.
This monthly event is free for program participants; MOST admission fees apply to parents and guardians.
Be the Scientist allows visitors to learn about and explore the activities of a different scientist (discipline) each month. From marine biology to computer programming and beyond, the last Saturday of the month is a time for local STEM practitioners, faculty, and museum visitors to come together and explore new careers and frontiers in science and technology. Participants in this no-cost program are welcome to explore the museum after visiting the stations.
Program Stations:
- LEARN – At this station, scientists and other professionals in the field will conduct demonstrations, talk with visitors about their careers and day to day activities, and answer questions about the discipline.
- ENGAGE – Visitors will engage in hands-on activities that simulate the work of professionals in that discipline.
- EXPLORE – Using what they have discovered from the LEARN and ENGAGE stations, visitors will explore the variety of opportunities in the field, visit relevant exhibits in the MOST, and choose from a variety of take-home materials to extend the exploration.
With additional support from Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists.
